A late autumn afternoon on one of the canals of the River Ill which define the old town of Strasbourg, France. Ink and watercolour painting by Dai Wynn on 300 gsm smooth surface Arches french cotton paper. 29 cm X 21cm (11.75″ X 8.25″) approximately.
In my new life as an artist, I paint images of places I have visited around the world in Canada, China, England, France, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, Scotland, Spain, and of course, Australia. I paint in watercolours on 300 gsm Arches paper, oils on canvas panels and oils on stretched canvas. Works can be small A5 sizes up to larger canvases of 1.2m X 1.2m or more. I am a realist painter, but hopefully not to the extremes of photo-realism. My ideal painting is one which is rich in texture up close -- almost "edible", a complete composition at mid distance, and recognisably a "Dai Wynn" on entering the gallery door.
