Artist Statement
The basis of my work focuses on the unpredictable transformation of nature and the spiritual world. My interest in reference to biology, nature, geology and anatomy reflect the blurring of boundaries that set apart reality and imagination. The ambiguous content and themes explore the fascination with phobias, fears, dreams, and cruelty of nature, as well as a sense of danger and conflict.
I continue to convey fusing forms that are out of place with the environment and placed in perplexing situations. This displacement of elements creates a new dimension and disorientation to the imagery. Painting to me is a game that defies the limits. There is an emphasis of overlapping space that is derived from sources of camouflage pattern from animal botany sources down to the cellular level. It is important to invent imaginary vortexes and peculiar construction. I would like to expand the elements of the unexpected and a sense of mystery to intrigue the viewer.
