Water, it’s depth, it’s moods, it’s colour, the light sparkling on it and the people immersed in it create an endless array of resource and inspiration. Yet buildings, people, the landscape, or simply what is before me, if the light is right it can enthuse me to paint it, draw it, photograph it, or just simply fold into my consciousness that moment or period of time.
Once held in one form or another it can then be developed back in the studio where one has time to use this research to nurture and merge it into a broader art work or series of art works. Stepping into a studio is the joy of entering your own world, with all its challenges, failures and accomplishments built up over time and all the new and unfinished works inviting your attention like lures in the sea.
