First the Art Academy in San Francisco, then the Art Students League in New York, Vietnam for 10 years and finally Paris since 2000: raised on the west coast in a greek family.
My global sensibility comes from living and working on three different continents. I love color, texture and patterns which are all readily evident in my work. Inspired both by natural and everyday shapes and events, my style is abstract at times and figurative at others.
To give rhythm and movement I favor repetitive motifs which also bring depth and surprises, i often paint multiple paintings within a painting via lively little vignettes.
Mixing and superimposing different medias and pigments creates textured mood pieces.
"Joanna Gregores's art is both joyful and tender, straightforward but never simplistic, and totally dedicated to an all powerful and nowadays almost forgotten pleasure, painting for the sake and beauty of it." J-M Boissier
