About This Piece
A shaft of late afternoon sunlight illuminates the depth of the Black Forest near Erlenbruck, southern Germany. Oil painting by Dai Wynn on stretched canvas. 101.6cm X 76.2cm (40″ X 30″).
In my new life as an artist, I paint images of places I have visited around the world in Canada, China, England, France, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, Scotland, Spain, and of course, Australia. I paint in watercolours on 300 gsm Arches paper, oils on canvas panels and oils on stretched canvas. Works can be small A5 sizes up to larger canvases of 1.2m X 1.2m or more. I am a realist painter, but hopefully not to the extremes of photo-realism. My ideal painting is one which is rich in texture up close -- almost "edible", a complete composition at mid distance, and recognisably a "Dai Wynn" on entering the gallery door.
